Foul Play! NOUN Accuses NYSC, Law School Of Double Standard On Its Graduates
The management of the National Open University Nigeria (NOUN) has decried the discrimination of its graduating students by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and the Nigerian Law School.
This disclosure was made known by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Vincent Ado Tenebe, last weekend at the 5th Annual Convocation ceremony of the school, held in Abuja.
According to Leadership reports, the VC lamented that the graduates of the school are not given equal opportunities with fellow graduates from other institutions to participate in the NYSC, adding that the law graduates are also barred from attending the Nigerian Law School, making it impossible for them to qualify as practicing lawyers.
Prof Tenebe reminded that a search through the web shows that there are 59 open universities in countries throughout the world and there is no evidence that graduates of other open universities are treated differently from the graduates of their traditional regular universities.
