The Fast and Furious actor tragically passed away in November 2013, when the Porsche he was a passenger in crashed into a concrete lamppost. His friend Roger Rodas was behind the wheel. Both men died in the accident, which Paul’s dad, Paul William Walker III, is blaming on the car’s lack of safety features, which could have saved the actor’s life.
The men were riding in a Porsche Carrera GT, with Paul’s father’s lawsuit citing missing features that have been included in other pending lawsuits against the company over the crash. These include a stability-control system, door reinforcements and a breakaway fuel line to prevent the car from bursting into flames after a collision.
The new motion comes just over a week after the car giant responded to a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Paul’s 16-year-old daughter Meadow.
She filed against the luxury car manufacturers accusing them of negligence. In her court papers, she claimed design flaws left her father trapped in the sports car as the vehicle burst into flames.
In Porsche’s reply it was stated that Paul was aware of all the risks and danger involved in driving a Carrera GT.
Meadow’s attorney Jeff Milam quickly criticised the response.
"If Porsche had designed the car to include proper safety features, Paul would have survived, he would be filming Fast and Furious 8, and Meadow Walker would have the father she adored," he wrote in a statement.
