Kenyan Police Arrests 2 Kenyans For Assisting Iran To Spy Against Kenya

Kenya’s police chief says two Kenyans in police custody have admitted assisting the Iranian state intelligence to plot attacks on western targets in Kenya.

Joseph Boinnet said Abubakar Sadiq Louw, 69, and Yassin Sambai Juma, 25, confessed to being spies for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Quds Force, an elite and secretive unit.

Boinnet says Louw recruited Juma and arranged for him to travel to Iran for training. Juma was arrested on Nov 19 on his return to Kenya.

In June 2013 a Kenyan court convicted two Iranian nationals of being Quds agents plotting attacks against Western targets in Kenya and they were sentenced to life in prison.

The two were arrested in June 2012 and led officials to a 15-kilogram (33-pound) stash of the explosive RDX.
