Abuja to relocate 500 IDP's to Maiduguri

The Chairman Committee for Relocation of 500 Borno State Internally Displaced Persons from Abuja to Maiduguri and Director General, FCT Emergency Management Agency,(FEMA), Mallam Abbas Garba on Tuesday led other members to Maiduguri to examine the facilities at various camps.

Mallam Garba who was accompanied by the FCT Chairman of the IDP's Mr Chakule Lawan, a representative of the Human Rights Commission visited Bakassi and Gubio camps in the Maiduguri metropolis where they all expressed confidence that the camps visited had adequate facilities to accommodate the IDPs.

Briefing Journalists at the zonal office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Garba said the relocation of the IDPs from Abuja to Maiduguri was necessitated by agitations from displaced persons in Abuja, who graciously indicated their interest to go back home following relative peace enjoyed in the state.
